The GKNAES Technical Publications operation has existed for over 40 years, during which time it has gained an enviable reputation for the production of high-quality technical manuals and other support documentation for a variety of business sectors, including Aerospace, Marine, Road Transport and Navigational Aids.

As a measure of the operation's sustained performance at the highest level, for more than 25 years it provided an Air Publications and Spares Provisioning service for the entire Wessex helicopter fleet (including Queen's Flight aircraft) to the Ministry of Defence under a PDS contract.

Throughout its existence, the GKNAES Technical Publications operation has adopted new technological production tools as they have become available. It was a pioneer in the exploitation of SGML for CALS (Computer-aided Acquisition & Logistic Support) as a means of providing seamless integration of technical data generated from widely dispersed sources.

Today, the GKNAES Technical Publications operation is committed to open-standards electronic technology as a means of implementing cost-reduction initiatives and for the delivery of cost-effective, high added-value data and documentation products.  Recognising that current trends in Technical Publications are increasingly towards interactive, modular digital documents accessible from Compact Disc or online, the GKNAES Technical Publications operation has gained extensive experience over the past ten years engaged in collaborative projects of this type.
